The main goal in Gin Rummy is to be the first to score 100 points. You score by forming your 10 cards into combinations. There are two types of combinations: and . Any cards not in a valid combination are called .
A hand ends when a player "knocks." You can only knock if the total point value of your deadwood is **10 or less**. Face cards are worth 10, Aces are 1, and number cards are their face value.
Select cards to see if you can knock.
After a player knocks, the opponent can "lay off" their deadwood on the knocker's melds. Then, points are awarded.
If the knocker has a lower deadwood count, they score the difference between their deadwood and the opponent's.
If the opponent has an equal or lower deadwood count, they score the difference PLUS a 25-point bonus.
If you knock with 0 deadwood, it's "Gin." You get a 25-point bonus plus the opponent's entire deadwood count.
